Charles City home a total loss after weekend fire
(ABC 6 News) – A Charles City home is a total loss after a fire early Sunday morning.
According to the Charles City Fire Department, at 1:35 a.m. fire crews were dispatched to a report of a house fire at 2988 Cottonwood Place.
There were two adults home at the time who were alerted by their smoke alarms and evacuated safely. Also, fire fighters were able to safely rescue two cats and other pets.
There were approximately 40 fire fighters who were on scene with no injuries reported.
The Charles City Fire Department says the fire is under investigation, but is not considered to be suspicious.
The home, owned by Allandis and Kayla Russ, is a total loss with extensive fire, smoke, and water damage throughout the home.
Fire fighters remained on scene until about 5:30 a.m. and continued extinguishment of hot spots at various times throughout Sunday and even into Monday morning.
The Charles City Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Floyd, Colwell, Nashua, Ionia, Rudd and Marble Rock Fire Departments, AMR Ambulance, Charles City Police Department, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Floyd County Search and Rescue, MidAmerican Energy, Black Hills Energy, and the Floyd County 911 Communications Center.
