City of Rochester reminds community to abide by seasonal parking requirements

(ABC 6 News) – A winter storm warning is in effect for our area, including the city of Rochester, beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 18.

The City of Rochester and its Public Works Department is reminding community members that seasonal parking requirements are in effect city-wide from November 1 to April 1, during the hours of 2:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

• Park your vehicle on the side of the street with EVEN house numbers when the calendar date is EVEN. Park your vehicle on the side of the street with ODD house numbers when the calendar date is ODD.
o This means you should park your vehicles on the ODD side of the street tonight (Wednesday evening), prior to 2:00 a.m. Thursday.
• Cars parked within the round part of a cul-de-sac must follow alternate side parking requirements.
• Alternate side parking requirements do not apply to streets where parking is only allowed on one side.

The public is encouraged to use off-street parking where possible as this allows plows to move as much snow as possible from both sides of the street. With the wet and heavy snow that is forecasted with this Winter Storm Warning, moving vehicles after a plow has come through could be challenging and frustrating.

More information about alternate side parking, as well as other winter-related topics, can be found at rochestermn.gov/winter.
