City of Rochester seeking community volunteers to fill seats on various boards, commissions
(ABC 6 News) – The City of Rochester is seeking applications to fill openings on several boards and commissions.
The City is looking to fill two seats on the Ethical Practices Board (EPB), for members whose terms expire on Apr. 30. There are also current openings on the Library Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Music Board (Ward 6).
The Ethical Practices Board consists of seven community members and serves to further the goals of the established Code of Ethics. Members serve a three-year term and may serve up to two consecutive terms. Meetings are typically held once a month during weekday hours with administrative staff provided by the City Attorney’s office.
“Getting involved in the Ethical Practices Board is a great way to develop a better understanding of how our City government works. The checks and balances that are in place are to ensure fairness, openness and transparency in the actions of elected and appointed city officials as well as City employees,” stated Ethical Practices Board Chair Dr. Peter Amadio.
The Library Board, Planning and Zoning Commission and Music Board also have openings that community members are encouraged to review and apply for. While individuals can submit an application at any time, those interested in applying are asked to do so by Mar. 31.
