Diamond Jo Worth Casino donates $25K to northern Iowa food bank
(ABC 6 News) – Boyd Gaming’s, Diamond Jo Worth Casino in Northwood, Iowa, announced a $25,000 donation to a northern Iowa food bank.
Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank, located in Mason City, is a nonprofit providing emergency food for those in need, and accepted the donation earlier this month.
“We are thankful for Diamond Jo Casino’s generosity as we work to feed more people than ever before,” said Carol Clayton, Board of Directors at Harvest Food Bank. “With this generous donation, Boyd Gaming will provide 156,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank, which will cover approximately 2-3 weeks of food for our organization.”
Organized in the fall of 1981, Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank was started as a community project to meet a growing need for food in northern Iowa. Today, the organization feeds more than 2,000 families a month, nearly doubling the amount of food provided since the COVID-19 pandemic.
