Eyota farmer out nearly $5K in farm diesel
(ABC 6 News) – An Eyota farmer is out nearly $5K after someone stole 900 gallons of farm diesel from his 1,000-gallon tank.
Olmsted County sheriff’s deputies responded at about 4:58 p.m. to a call on County Road 7 in Eyota Township July 11.
An Eyota farmer had filled his 1,000-gallon farm diesel tank up on June 6.
After using 100 gallons of the fuel, he realized the tank was empty.
At $5.30 a gallon, 900 gallons of diesel cost about $4,770, Capt. James Schueller with the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said.
It is unknown whether a thief took all of the fuel at once or made several trips to the farmer’s property.
There were no security cameras in the area.
