Faribault man arrested, charged with theft of firearm
(ABC 6 News) – The Owatonna Police Department arrested and charged a Faribault man in connection to a complaint regarding a stolen firearm from an area retailer.
Donald Pepin, 68, was arrested and charged with theft of firearm which is a felony.
According to Owatonna Police, on the afternoon of Jan. 26, Pepin allegedly concealed a .22 caliber rifle between bags of feed corn and left a retail store without making an attempt to pay.
During the investigation, several tips came in referencing the identity of the suspect. Detectives investigated these tips, which led them to a person of interest.
Last Friday, Feb. 3, a search warrant was executed at the 500 block of 13th St NW in Faribault resulting in the stolen firearm being located in a gun safe inside the residence.
Pepin was placed in the Steele County Detention Center.
The Owatonna Police Department was assisted by the Faribault Police Department in this investigation.
