Former Mason City gymnastics coach sentenced in sex abuse case

(ABC 6 News) – The former president of Active Kids Gymnastics in Mason City was sentenced Monday to as many as 45 years in prison for sexual abuse.

Douglas Hagenow, 54 of Mason City, was convicted in September of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

Hagenow was sentenced to 25 years in prison for second-degree sex abuse for a child under the age of 12 and 10 years in prison for each count of third-degree sex abuse for a child between the ages of 12 and 13..

According to court documents, the reported abuse involved minors and happened between 2009 and 2014.
