UPDATE: Grand Meadow cancels school Thursday due to power outage
(ABC 6 News) — Grand Meadow Public School has canceled school on Thursday due to Wednesday’s power outage.
The school’s Facebook page stated that the school suffered mechanical damage to circulation motors and a number of fuses were blown.
One motor overheated and started on fire, which was put out by school personnel.
Spring sports can have practices or games as previously scheduled.

(ABC 6 News) — The Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative has confirmed that an animal caused a power outage in Grand Meadow on Wednesday while on top of a transformer.
The power was out for about an hour from 12:12 p.m. to 1:05 p.m. with 1100 customers being impacted.
Power is restored in the area, but permanent repairs are taking place Wednesday on the transformer. Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative says the repairs may cause a brief “blink” in power, meaning people may see a flicker.
However, the repairs are not likely to cause any impact into the night.

The school’s Facebook page cited a power outage in the area, which affected the school.
