Iowa State Fair closes after setting two records
(ABC 6 News) – The Iowa State Fair in Des Moines came to an end on Sunday, but not before breaking two records.
According to the fair, Saturday, August 20th set a record for the highest one-day attendance all-time at the fair with 128,298 attendees.
The previous one-day attendance record was 127,277 people set on August 17, 1991.
Also on Saturday, the fair crushed the Guinness World Record for the largest cornhole tournament with 730 participants. The previous record was 444 participants set in 2019 in San Diego, California.
The Iowa State Fair ranks among the largest fairs in the nation recording over one million attendance numbers consistently since 2002, with the exception of 2020, which was not held due to COVID-19.
