(ABC 6 News) – As part of National Fire prevention week. the Kasson fire department held an open house to educate the community on fire safety.
The event welcomed people into their fire hall to get an up-close look at their gear and get to know the people who serve the community in times of crisis.
Participants got to take part in activities that firefighters do daily to save lives and the hope is to strengthen the relationship with the community.
“So it allows us to actually get to know them, get to meet them, so if they do happen to have an emergency, they may can know who we are or know that we’re their neighbors as well,” Kasson fire chief Joe Fitch.
Memories were made at Wednesday’s open house and with all of the activities, the chief was happy with the turnout and being able to interact with the community.
