(ABC 6 News) – Some local businesses are getting into the spirit of giving by helping out a special cause this holiday season.
Kids from Hayfield schools and Sellers Lock & Key teamed up with Toys for Tots for a Christmas shopping spree at Walmart in Austin.
The goal is to buy enough presents to fill a hot tub and Rochester Motorcars will match up to 5 thousand dollars in toy donations. All of the gifts donated will be going to kids in need here locally.
The team spent almost 8 thousand dollars Wednesday to make sure 1,230 children have a gift this year.
“It’s really important to do this because there are a lot of less fortunate people in the world and if you’re able to help out it’s just a really good thing for you to do. I know there’s kids out there loving all the toys that we pick out so it’s just a really good feeling to have,” said shopper Izzy Sellers.
Over a dozen shoppers helped out and all of the gifts will be delivered to kids over the next few weeks.
