Man injured in Mason City shooting
(ABC 6 News) – The Mason City Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on Monday afternoon.
MCPD said officers responded to the shooting and a person needing medical attention in the area of 1st St. SW and Monroe Ave. at 12:42 p.m.
The first arriving officer located a male who had sustained two gunshot wounds. Paramedics arrived on scene, provided treatment, and transported the male to MercyOne North Iowa.
MCPD said officers were able to collect evidence in the 300 block of 1st St. SW and get statements from witnesses who were in the area at the time of the shooting.
MCPD said there is no ongoing threat to the public and the shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information or witnesses of the shooting are urged to contact the MCPD by calling 641-421-3636.
MCPD was assisted in the investigation by the Mason City Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, and the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.
