(ABC 6 News) – Thursday, Maxability hosted its 6th annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration at the Chateau Theatre in Rochester.
The annual event is meant to bring awareness to and promote an inclusive environment for people with disabilities.
One of the most popular parts of the event is the talent show.
Ben Cockram has been apart of the event since the begining. He lives with cerebral palsy and says creating an inclusive environment like this, is important for the entire community.
“Once we realize we all have disabilities, some people can’t do math some people can’t walk. No matter what that separation is we all have some kind of disability,” Cockram said
The keynote speaker was internationally known playwright and storyteller Kevin Kling, of Minneapolis.
Kevin was born with a congentital birth defect and also lost partial use in one of his arms after a motorcycle accident.
