Byron native passes away at Missouri college
(ABC 6 News) – A Byron native who attended college in Missouri has passed away.
According to a statement from Cottey College, Ella Jasmary Page, 22, passed away at her off-campus residence last Wednesday, Feb. 22. Page was a senior student with a major in Business Administration and a member of the cross-country and indoor and outdoor track teams. Page graduated from Byron High School in 2019.
Page, is the daughter of Joey Page, who is the superintendent of Austin Public Schools, and the former superintendent of Byron Public Schools.
Cottey College released the following statement:
“We are stunned and deeply saddened by this tragic event, and our prayers are with Ella’s family,” said Cottey President Stefanie Niles. “Ella was loved by many across campus. We are all heartbroken and are working to ensure that students and employees have the emotional support they need during this difficult time.”
“Ella brought so much joy to our campus and athletics department,” said Athletic Director Maryann Mitts. “This is an unspeakable loss and our thoughts and prayers are with her family.”

The school canceled classes last Wednesday and Thursday after learning of Page’s death. The campus community also held a gathering.
Cottey College is a private, liberal arts and sciences women’s college in Nevada, Missouri, approximately 95 miles south of Kansas City.
No official cause of death. has been released.
Service for Ella will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Minneapolis, on Mar. 4 at 2:00 pm.
