(ABC 6 News) – Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program held a mobile blood drive at the Eyota ambulance building Tuesday evening to help make donating more accessible to people in rural communities.

The inventory is collected through the Mayo Clinic Blood donor program and the mobile program is especially helpful for that extra push in donations.

“These drives just give the inventory a huge boost as we can collect up to 19 to 24 donors at these drives. If we can do them as often as Monday through Thursday with those extra donors coming in it just provides an extra safety net and a boost to our donors we can collect locally and daily,” Marketing and Recruitment Coordinator Adam Stewart said.

The clinic is back open Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Organizers say they’re always looking especially for type O blood since that’s a universal donor.
