MSHSL Girls Hockey, Gymnastics Tournaments going forward despite winter storm
(ABC 6 News) – The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) says they are going forward with both the state high school girls hockey tournament and state gymnastics competition despite the heavy snow that is forecasted to blanket the Twin Cities.
The girls hockey tournament will be played at the Xcel Energy Center while the gymnastics competition will be held at Roy Wilkins Auditorium, both in St. Paul.
The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities is forecasting 17-23″ of snowfall from Tuesday to Thursday evening.
In a statement, the MSHSL said:
The Minnesota State High School Girls Hockey and Gymnastics State Tournaments for this week are expected to take place as scheduled. Teams are being encouraged to watch the weather and make travel plans accordingly. We look forward to hosting two great tournaments.

The girls hockey tournament will feature teams from all over the state. It begins on Wednesday and ends on Saturday. The Albert Lea Tigers won their second-straight sectional title last Friday defeating Dodge County, 3-2 in overtime to earn a trip to the state tournament.

Meanwhile, the gymnastics competition will take place Friday and Saturday. The Winona Winhawks will be competing in the Class-A team, individual and all-around competitions.
