(ABC 6 News) – Wednesday, NAMI organized its yearly holiday gift drive for children and adults who may be spending the holidays in a residential mental health treatment facility.
The nonprofit spent Wednesday packing gifts so that they would be ready to be delivered with items such as snacks, toys, socks, and much more.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness wants to make sure that no one feels alone during this time.
“For a lot of folks who are in residential treatment, you know this might be the most difficult time you know they’ve had in their entire life, explained NAMI SEMN Executive Director,” Mathew Bjorngaard.
With the impending winter storm, NAMI began to deliver the gifts to the residential facilities in Rochester Wednesday afternoon.
Zumbro Valley Health Center in southeast Rochester was just one of the many places that received gifts, but this is only the beginning.
“We will deliver over 180 boxes this year which we’re really excited about,” said Program Director Jenn Becker.
NAMI will continue their drop-offs next week.
