(ABC 6 News) – Next Chapter Ministries is non profit that helps out people just getting out of prison to have a successful life after incarceration. Saturday, they hosted their annual drive thru BBQ fundraiser at Christ Community Church in northwest Rochester. Next Chapter hopes that through these fundraisers they can make a lasting impact on the community and give people a second chance at life.

"We’re a local organization, a reentry organization that work with families men women and children that is impacted by the cycle of incarceration. We have residential and no residential homes and we just build long lasting relationships with families in our community that are coming that are coming out of prison or jail," said Next Chapter Ministries executive director Courtney Dugstad.

Next Chapter graduate Mark Shank added, "it helps support a lot of the guys, some us just came out of prison and gave us another chance at life to rebuild our life in a more structured godly kind of way. So, means a lot to us to be able to give back by helping out. Like in a situation like mine and it also provides for a chance at life for the guys just coming out."

Organizers expect to raise ten thousand dollars just from this event. If you were unable to attend Saturday, Next Chapter is hosting another BBQ on August 13th… For information or if you want to get involved with Next Chapter Ministries click here
