Olmsted County Law Enforcement wins Battle of the Badges blood donation challenge

(ABC 6 News) – The Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program announced on Wednesday that Olmsted County Law Enforcement are the winners of the 5th annual Battle of the Badges blood donation challenge.
Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service, Olmsted County Fire departments (Byron, Rochester and Stewartville), Rochester Police Department, and Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office all participated in the friendly competition among first responders.
The challenge ran from June 1 through August 31.
Law Enforcement, the Rochester Police Department and the Olmsted County Sheriffs Office, won with 277 blood donations. Collectively, Olmsted County first responders provided 678 blood donations over the past three months.
The goal of this fun and friendly challenge is to save lives through blood donation and to build community relationships and awareness about donating blood and blood products.
A traveling trophy will be presented at the Rochester Police Department North Station, 4001 West River Pkwy NW on Thursday, September 8 at 12:00 p.m.
Receiving the trophy on behalf of Law Enforcement will be Sergeant Chad Blanchette of the Rochester Police Department.
