(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester man was arrested Thursday after injuring police officers in an attempt to fight his parents.
Sean O’Grady, 22, faces charges of 4th degree assault, domestic assault, and obstruction of the legal process.
Rochester police responded to the home O’Grady and his parents share in the 2000 block of Hightop Place NE at about 5:56 p.m. July 28.
Capt. Casey Moilanen with the RPD said O’Grady was verbally threatening and abusing his parents, who called officers for help.
Moilanen said O’Grady sometimes “becomes threatening and instills a lot of fear in (his) parents.”
After officers separated the parties, with O’Grady downstairs, his parents upstairs, and an officer at the base of the stairs to prevent contact, Moilanen said O’Grady pushed the officer down in an attempt to reach his parents.
According to the officers’ report, when a second officer tried to take O’Grady into custody, he scratched the officer’s face, drawing blood and knocking a contact lens out.
The two officers tased O’Grady once and took him into custody.
He was medically cleared by Mayo Clinic Ambulance and taken to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center.
Olmsted County Court ordered O’Grady to surrender all firearms within his possession to law enforcement Friday.
