Rochester Mayor Norton recognized as 2022 National Forum Award recipient
(ABC 6 News) – Rochester Mayor Kim Norton was recognized on Thursday by the National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention.
The National Forum’s 20th annual award presentation recognized 5 individuals and 3 organizations for their contributions to heart disease and stroke prevention.
In all, the event drew leaders from over 200 organizations to help explore new approaches to strengthen public support for health equity and cardiovascular health.
Mayor Norton was the recipient of the individual National Forum Public Policy Award which recognizes someone who has effectively advanced policy change that reduces the heart disease and stroke burden on a national, state, or local level. The Mayor was honored for her leadership to pass a resolution for Active People-Healthy Nation and Everyday Routes for Physical Activity, and to establish more walker-friendly communities in Minnesota.
The National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention includes members of more than 100 public, private, and non-profit organizations in cardiovascular health, and to provide a forum and outlet for them to amplify their voices. To learn more, CLICK HERE.
