Schwickerts reports weekend break-in, burglary
(ABC 6 News) – A break-in and burglary at Schwickerts Tecta America in Stewartville in still under investigation, according to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.
Although law enforcement has received surveillance video of the incident, there is no suspect, Capt. James Schueller with the OCSO said.
According to the OCSO, the burglary took place Saturday, Oct. 22, and was reported to deputies around 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24.
According to the surveillance video, a suspect cut the fence surrounding the property, searched the yard for unlocked vehicles, and took around $3,000 in hand tools and a hand generator from workers’ vehicles and a shed he or she accessed with a garage door opener from one of the vehicles.
A sheriff’s deputy confirmed that the cuts to the fence were likely made with wire cutters.
The business owner estimated that the fence would cost another $3,200 to fix.
Schueller declined to describe the suspect in the surveillance video, as the investigation is ongoing.
If apprehended, the suspect could face charges of 3rd-degree burglary, 4th-degree damage to property, and theft or possession of stolen property.
Schueller said Schwickert’s in Stewartville had reported a similar burglary in November 2021, but could not confirm that the two were related.
