Several crashes, spinouts across southeast Minnesota Wednesday morning due to icy spots
(ABC 6 News) – It was a busy Wednesday morning for first responders across southeast Minnesota due to several reported crashes and spinouts.
Blowing snow due to gusty winds created some icy, slick patches on roads especially in open and rural areas.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) reported crashes and spinouts on various highways such as I-35, Hwy 52, Hwy 218, Hwy 14, Hwy 63 and others throughout Wednesday morning.
MnDOT reported a multi-vehicle crash around 7:45 a.m. on northbound I-35 between MN 30 and Exit 32: Steele County Road 4 (12 miles south of Owatonna).
Blowing snow across Hwy 52 near Wastedo around 8:00 a.m. likely led to some icy spots sending a semi off the road blocking the northbound left lane.
Just down the road and north of the semi crash on Hwy 52, a vehicle rolled and came to a rest in the median.
MnDOT reported a crash just before 8:30 a.m. on southbound I-35 between Exit 55: Faribault Road and Exit 48: West Central Avenue (3 miles south of Faribault). That vehicle came to a rest blocking the left lane.
There was no immediate information on any injuries related to these crashes.
ABC 6 News will provide additional information on these crashes if and when they become available.
