SPARK’s 10th annual great cardboard Sled race returns
(ABC 6 News) – SPARK’s signature event, the Great Cardboard Sled Race, is back for its 10th year on February 11, at the Rochester Golf and Country Club.
Families across Southeast Minnesota are invited to gather their cardboard, tape, and decorations to construct the sled of their dreams and compete in the event.
Registration is now open for individual child sleds or team sleds. Families come for the race on the hill but stay for the fire pits, light refreshments inside, along with an award ceremony. Trophies are awarded in three categories: fastest, furthest distance, and best design.
“Fresh air, remarkable sled designs, and time with family and friends are what this day is all about,” said Heather Nessler, Executive Director of SPARK.
Events of the Day:
• 10:45 – 11:15 AM: Registration at Rochester Golf & Country Club (3100 Country Club Rd SW)
• 11:15 AM: Racing begins (Single Sleds, then Team Sleds)
• 11:30 – 1:30 PM: Light refreshments, fire pits
• 1:30 PM: Trophies and brief ceremony
The cost for a individual child sled or a team sled (up to three children riders) is is $25. Each sled can only be entered in one race. To register for the event, visit HERE.
