Steele County man convicted of child porn possession violated probation, sentenced to prison
(ABC 6 News) – A Hope, MN man who pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing child porn was found to have violated probation and sentenced to 30 months at the MN Correctional Facility in St. Cloud Tuesday.
Derek Charles Megraw, 38, was arrested after a July 2020 search warrant at his former home in Leroy resulted in the seizure of 12 electronics, many of which contained images of Child Sex Abuse Materials (CSAM), or child pornography.
Megraw was originally sentenced in September to 30 months of jail time, to be stayed for the term of his 7-year probation after pleading guilty to four of 10 child porn charges in Mower County Court.
Megraw was released on probation in September, but a warrant was issued for his arrest Nov. 21, after Megraw allegedly violated the terms of his probation.
Megraw was arrested Nov. 22 and sentenced to 30 months, or 2.5 years of prison Dec. 6, with credit for 22 days served in jail.
