Stewartville man sentenced to probation for threats against nursing home, girlfriend

(ABC 6 News) – UPDATE: A Stewartville man who threatened to bring an AR-15 to the nursing home where his girlfriend worked was sentenced to 5 years of probation and 50 hours of community service Thursday, Feb. 2.

Javarie James Smith pleaded guilty to terroristic threats and two counts of assault–fear of bodily harm in November of 2022.

Charges of domestic assault, stalking, and DANCO violation were dismissed.

(ABC 6 News) – A Stewartville man who threatened to bring an AR-15 to a nursing home and send bullets “flying through the glass” pleaded guilty to terroristic threats, as well as two counts of assault in a related case Thursday.

Javarie James Smith was scheduled to stand trial on charges of terroristic threats, multiple counts of domestic assault, stalking, and violating a Domestic Abuse No-Contact Order later this month.

He pleaded guilty to three of the charges Thursday, Nov. 17. The rest of the charges were dismissed.

Smith, 20, pleaded guilty in exchange for a presumptive stayed sentence and probation.

His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 2, 2023.
