Details of Rochester burglary, assault case involving teenagers

(ABC 6 News) – Court documents filed April 26 shed light on an alleged burglary early Thursday, including an alleged assault and the involvement of a juvenile.

Jamine Robinson Jr., 18, was formally charged Friday with three felonies: 1st-degree burglary–occupied building; 1st-degree burglary–assault person in building; and simple robbery.

He also faces one charge of misdemeanor fleeing police.

Robinson Jr. is currently held in the Olmsted County ADC on $250,000 bail with or without conditions.

According to Rochester police communications coordinator Amanda Grayson Thursday, shortly after midnight April 25, a 70-year-old woman in the 3900 block of Superior Drive NW heard noises in her kitchen and saw a person taking money from her purse.

According to court documents, that woman told police Robinson Jr. shoved her when she attempted to grab her wallet from him.

The burglar left the apartment via the window when she yelled for help.

According to court documents, Rochester police received a call later in the morning, stating two males in dark clothing were shining lights into windows.

Rochester police attempted to stop Robinson Jr. and a juvenile male, but Robinson Jr. allegedly fled on foot and was detained while trying to climb onto the balcony of his own apartment.

The juvenile allegedly told police he and Robinson Jr. had planned to cut through the yard of the apartment complex on their way to a gas station, but looked into the older woman’s window and “assumed they had a lot of money.”

The juvenile also allegedly told police Robinson Jr. shoved the woman away before leaving the apartment.

Robinson Jr.’s next court hearing is scheduled for May 8.
