The e-cigarette, "JUUL", is being ordered by the FDA to remove their vaping products off the market.
Last week the FDA ordered the company to remove the vaping products off the market due to the company’s contribution to what many deem the "youth vaping epidemic".
The FDA’s decision stated that the company lacked "sufficient evidence" in its report demonstrating the marketing of its products are appropriate for the protection of the public health.
Mathew Meyers, the president of Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, says the company hasn’t been able to prove it’s product isn’t a safety concern.
"JUUL, more than any other company, is responsible for the medioric rise in youth e-cigarette use in the last five years." Meyers said. " The FDAs decision in this case, was based upon safety concerns, "toxilogical" concerns, that the product presents that JUUL was unable to address."
According to Ton’s Tobacco, pulling JUUL off the shelves won’t affect their business much. Claiming it isn’t a top seller for them anymore.
Back in 2019, the FDA ordered the company to discontinue all fruity flavors, like mango and fruit medley; Significantly hurting the company’s sales.
In a statement, JUUL said the company is seeking to suspend the trial. Which would allow the companies products to remain on the market while they appeal the FDA’s decision.
