(ABC 6 News) – An Austin man accused of murdering a woman in 2021 is set to go trial.

Me’darian Mcgruder appeared for a pretrial hearing in Mower County District Court for the 2021 shooting death of 20-year-old Tyesha Gills. 

Judge Kritzer said that they will summon 80 people for jury selection. This case will have three alternates because the trial is set to last about two weeks.

Mcgruder is facing multiple charges including:

• Murder in the second-degree – With Intent-Not Premeditated
• Murder in the second-degree – Without Intent – While Committing a Felony
• Murder in the third-degree – Perpetrating Eminently Dangerous Act and Evincing Depraved Mind, Violent Felon in Possession of Firearm,
• Manslaughter in the second-degree – Culpable Negligence Creating Unreasonable Risk, Domestic Assault-Felony

Mcgruder’s trial is set to begin February 5th at 9 a.m.
