(ABC 6 News-) UPDATE: The Minnesota State Patrol is confirming two are dead in a head-on collision that occurred on Hwy 218. 

The accident happened north of Lyle, near 140th Street at around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. 

Whin Gay, a 17-year-old from Austin, Minnesota, and 25-year-old Jacie Mae Weaver from Rockwell, Iowa, were both killed according to the MSP crash report.

The MSP crash report states that Gay was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. 

Traffic is now open in both directions on Hwy 218, after first responders with MSP, Mower County Sheriff, Lyle Fire & Rescue and others cleared the scene.

(ABC 6 News) – A crash occurred on Highway 218 near Lyle on Tuesday.

Traffic is now being detoured to Highway 105, with traffic on Highway 218 blocked off north of Lyle in both directions.

MN 511 cameras show a vehicle off the road on US 218 North at 140th Street.

The crash is located between the cities of Austin and Lyle, MN.
