(ABC 6 News) – Polls opened at 7:00 a.m. in Minnesota and Iowa, and voters have been eager to get out and cast their ballots.
People have been trickling into Ellis Middle School in Austin throughout the day making that extra effort to vote for issues that are important to them.
Lacey Gabrielson says, “the school referendum is a big issue for me because the school is so underfunded by our community and its a vital resource for so many students and members of the community. I feel like we need to do our part and support it in any way we can.”
Some voters are going the extra mile to make their voices heard. Dennis Schminke, who is an election judge for the third time says, “as we’ve seen it’s really important to promote the business of election integrity and free and fair elections. And for judges, and volunteers who come out and do this, it’s a long day for not very much money and they’re doing a lot to help out.”
Polls in Minnesota and Iowa are open until 8:00 p.m. As long as you’re in line by then, you are allowed to cast your vote.
