UPDATE: Austin woman receives probation in drug case; co-defendant still at large
(ABC 6 News) – Elizabeth Marcoot of Austin was sentenced to two years’ probation in Freeborn County Court Thursday.
Marcoot, who was arrested after a Sept. 2020 narcotics search at an Albert Lea hotel, previously pleaded guilty to 1st-degree drug possession.
Marcoot’s co-defendent, Marco Antonio Alquicira of Albert Lea, failed to appear at his own sentencing Oct. 10.
Freeborn County Court issued a statewide warrant for Alquicira Oct. 7, and made the warrant nationwide Oct. 11.
(ABC 6 News) – Freeborn County Court issued an active warrant for Marco Antonio Alquicira Friday, Oct. 7 — just three days before Alquicira’s sentencing for 1st-degree controlled substance crimes.
Alquicira was arrested after a Sept. 2020 narcotics search at an Albert Lea hotel and pleaded guilty to drug sales or possession June 17.

On Oct. 6, Freeborn County law enforcement reported that Alquicira had not complied with GPS monitoring. A warrant for Alquicira’s arrest was issued one day later.
According to court documents, Alquicira failed to appear for his sentencing, scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10.
The maximum penalty for a 1st-degree drug charge is 40 years in prison.
Alquicira’s co-defendent, Elizabeth Marcoot of Austin, also pleaded guilty to 1st-degree drug possession.

Her sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 13.
