Rochester man accused of multiple sexual assaults located in Kandiyohi County jail
(ABC 6 News) – UPDATE: A Rochester man accused of 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-degree criminal sexual conduct was found in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement at Kandiyohi County Jail, shortly after Olmsted County Court issued a warrant for his arrest.
Zeferino Cano Rafael, 25, was transferred back to Rochester Thursday to appear on his charges, then transferred back to Fort Snelling, according to court records.
Rafael, 25, faces the charges of 1st- and 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct after being accused of molesting, then raping a child in 2018 and 2020, when the child was approximately 7 and 9 years old.
Rafael faces additional charges of 3rd- and 4th-degree criminal sexual conduct after an adult woman told law enforcement Rafael had engaged in sexual contact with her and raped her, using force.
His next Olmsted County Court appearance is scheduled for March 2, and will be conducted via Zoom.
(ABC 6 News) – Olmsted County Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Zeferino Cano Rafael after the Rochester resident failed to appear in court on charges of 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-degree criminal sexual conduct Thursday, Feb. 2.
Rafael, 25, faces the charges of 1st- and 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct after being accused of molesting, then raping a child in 2018 and 2020, when the child was approximately 7 and 9 years old.
According to court documents, the child spoke to law enforcement about the alleged attacks in July of 2022, at age 11.
Rafael faces additional charges of 3rd- and 4th-degree criminal sexual conduct after an adult woman told law enforcement Rafael had engaged in sexual contact with her and raped her, using force.
According to court documents, the woman spoke to Rochester law enforcement in January of 2023.
Rafael was scheduled to make his initial appearance in court Feb. 2, but failed to appear.
