Young child dead, 4 injured in bus, pickup truck crash in Arden Hills
(KSTP) – A 23-month-old girl is dead, and 4 people are injured following a Monday morning crash in Arden Hills, northeast of Minneapolis.
According to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to the crash in Arden Hills around 8:30 a.m., and found that a school bus had struck and “badly damaged” a pickup truck from the truck’s passenger side.
A 31-year-old man was driving the truck. His 29-year-old wife, 15-year-old son and 23-month-old daughter were passengers.
A woman was driving the bus, but no children were on board.
Deputies began CPR on the 23-month-old girl, who was not breathing. Allina medics arrived and continued life-saving efforts before taking the girl to Regions Hospital, where she died shortly after.
The other three truck passengers and the bus driver all suffered injuries.
The bus driver and 15-year-old boy were taken to the hospital.
The sheriff says at some point during the incident, a third vehicle was hit by the pickup, but no one in that vehicle was hurt.
The sheriff’s office is working to reconstruct the crash, but early information suggests the bus hit the truck’s passenger side when it was making a left-hand turn.
