Missing man’s car found with body inside

(ABC 6 News) – A missing Rochester man’s vehicle was located in Byron on New Year’s Eve, with a deceased person inside.

According to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, there’s an update in the case Uong Ong, who had been reported missing on Dec. 3.

Ong’s burnt car was found in the 8000 block of Country Club Road West.

“Deputies arrived, observed a vehicle with significant fire damage, and appeared to have been in this area for some time,” Capt. Tim Parkin wrote in an email. “Deputies also observed a deceased
person in the driver’s seat. The car is registered to a person, Uong Ong …An autopsy has been performed, and final identification of the deceased person is pending.”

(ABC 6 News) — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has joined the week-long search for a 76-year-old father in Rochester.

The family of Uong Ong has been working to bring him home since last Tuesday.

He was last seen in a blue 2004 Toyota Camry leaving northwest Rochester on Gem Lane wearing a black jacket.
