Walz to travel to Iowa on Friday

(ABC 6 News) — On Friday, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will travel to Iowa.
It is all part of the governor’s national tour of town halls in Republican House districts.
Walz and Iowa Democrats will host a town hall in Des Moines that begins at 3 p.m.
The reason for the visit was to provide the state of Iowa with a different perspective on issues, with the main focus on education.
Some of the topics discussed included special education funding and how it is important for all kids to be able to support themselves as adults, along with the SNAP program, arguing that kids need it when they don’t have access to free meals.
The current administration has threatened to cut ties for both, citing government over-spending.
“It’s better that they get a good education and they can contribute into the economy, and you have less services down the road. All of those things make a difference. They have no plan for this,” said Governor Tim Walz at the town hall meeting.
He ended the town hall meeting talking about Medicaid, and the concerns he has about the future of healthcare and insurance in the long run, before he opened it up to the room about what they expect from the federal government.
Des Moines was his first stop on Walz’s town hall tour. He is expected to also visit Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Ohio for more town hall meetings.
