VIDEO: MnDOT, Olmsted County, City of Rochester announce construction plans for 2025
(ABC 6 News) — Construction season has begun, and the public can get a look at some of the key 2025 road construction projects in Rochester, Olmsted County, and southeast Minnesota as representatives of the city, county, and MnDOT talk about their plans for the season.
The 2025 construction season includes nearly 180 planned road and bridge projects that will help maintain and improve Minnesota’s roads, bridges, and transportation infrastructure while also improve safety and mobility and support jobs that will be worked on statewide.
Additionally, there are 51 projects that will improve airports, water ports, railroad crossings and transit infrastructure.
Significant projects this year in southeast Minnesota include:
- During the second year of the three year I-90/Highway 52 interchange project southeast of Rochester, crews will construct the new eastbound I-90 bridge, a flyover bridge over Highway 52 and a portion of new ramps and loop. Traffic impacts begin April 7.
- Bridge construction continues in Austin. There are six sites along I-90 in Austin that have bridges that are scheduled to be replaced or repaired 2024 to 2026.
- Crews will resurface Highway 14 in Rochester from Highway 52 to Olmsted County Road 36 (Marion Road).
- Work will improve drainage and slope stabilization on Highway 14 at Stockton Hill between Stockton and Winona.
