(ABC 6 News) – January is sex trafficking awareness month, and a local organization is holding a virtual event to bring awareness.
Lutheran Social Services in Rochester is offering a virtual event open to the public called "Lunch and Learn." The event is on January 27th from 12pm to 1pm, and will host speakers and panelists from around Minnesota.
The group will share what is being done to prevent human trafficking — and how the public can get involved.
"We’re also gonna have some conversation time on some common misconceptions and some myths about the world of trafficking. Trafficking happens right here in our state," said Tammy Moses of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota.
The event is free, and you can register online here.
