Woman leads Rochester police on a chase

(ABC 6 NEWS) – On Wednesday night, Rochester Police were led on a chase by a woman who was wanted for fleeing an officer earlier in October.

A Rochester Police officer received information around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday that a woman who drove off from a traffic stop on Oct. 20 was at the Holiday Gas Station in the 400 block of 4th St. SE.

When officers arrived they found her car and parked in front of it to not allow her to leave.

The officer approached her and told her she was under arrest for fleeing officers on the 20th.

The woman, 34-year-old Andrea Wallace of Rochester then rammed two police squad cars and was able to get out and drive off.

She led police on a chase throughout Rochester.

The officers attempted a pit maneuver which is a pursuit intervention technique where police tap the back of the vehicle and it spins out if done right.

Officers were able to perform the maneuver and Wallace was stopped for just a short amount of time but got away again.

Wallace was near West Circle Dr. and Highway 14 when she tried to avoid hitting another vehicle and when doing so she spun out, according to RPD.

Police said she became stuck there and could no longer flee.

When police got to her car, she looked unconscious and to be having a seizure. Narcan was used and she was taken to Saint Marys where she told an officer in the ambulance she had taken heroin before the chase.

Wallace is facing charges of 1st-degree damage to property, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, no insurance, driving after ramification, 5th degree controlled substance crime after crack/cocaine was found in her purse, failing to stop at a stop sign, and failing to stop at a stoplight.

Police said she was originally pulled over on Oct. 20th for having the wrong license plates on her car. When officers tried to perform a traffic stop she drove off.
