(ABC 6 News) — The Honkers have a tendency for bouncing back at home after a loss.
They remained undefeated in games where they play at home following a loss as they got the victory over the La Crosse Loggers, exacting a measure of revenge from Sunday’s setback.
Jakob Guardado struck out 10 over five innings, only allowing 2 hits. Austin Davis and Theo Hardy both extended their hitting streaks to five and nine respectively.
In the third inning, the Honkers’ Kevin Dowdell hit his third home run of the summer, with a 2-run blast to make the score 3-1. The Loggers would come back and tie the game in the top of the fifth, but Rochester took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning when Davis crossed the plate on a dropped third strike. The Honkers added two more runs in the sixth on a pair of wild pitches to take a 6-3 lead.
The Honkers finish the first half 15-19 after Monday night’s win. They’ll be back in action Wednesday night when they host the Minnesota Mud Puppies. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from Mayo Field.
