(ABC 6 News) – The National High School Athletic Coaches Association announced that longtime former grand meadow football head coach Gary Sloan has been named a finalist for national football coach of the year.
Coach Sloan announced his retirement last October after 29 seasons.
Under Sloan, the Superlarks were 230-84 along with four straight state championships from 2013 to 2016.
If Sloan were to win the award, it would be the second straight time an area coach has won the award, Pine island’s Craig Anderson won the award for baseball last year.
