Newman Catholic Baseball’s Doug Taylor named a Preseason First Team All-American

(ABC 6 News) — On Tuesday, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper named Newman Catholic Baseball’s Doug Taylor as a Preseason All-American. The senior is one of three Iowans on the overall list, but Taylor is the only First Team All-American out of his fellow statesmen.

The future Iowa Hawkeye struck out 116 batters last season with an era of 1.73. His 60 runs batted in were second-best in the entire state a year ago, with a batting average of over .440 to boot.
