(ABC 6 News) — Two local athletes will be part of a legion of Minnesotans that have been invited to a special event.

Rochester’s Makayla Pahl and Lake City’s Taylor Heise will be participating in the USA Hockey Women’s National Festival from August 8-13 in Buffalo. It’s a major opportunity for both young ladies as the event designed to help USA Hockey select its next U.S. women’s national team roster.

Pahl played in 11 games for Golden Gophers Women’s Hockey last season, having a save percentage of .934 and a 1.70 GAA. Meanwhile, Heise had 29 goals and 66 points, en route to winning the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award for best women’s college hockey player.
