(ABC 6 News) — The Rockford Warrior’s quest to the state tournament may not have started at their home field but if they want to win it all, they will have to show they can win on a neutral site.
They faced the North Butler Bearcats at St. Ansgar in the first round of the Class 1A Region 3 Tournament Saturday evening, and for most of the game, the two teams played to a stalemate.
It wasn’t until the 6th inning when Kolton Lyman’s grand slam with the game tied at 1, opened things up for the Warriors. From there, the bats got hot and they added two more runs. They would go on to get the victory over North Butler 7-1.
They will travel to South Winneshiek next Tuesday in a "Warriors vs. Warriors" second-round matchup
