Albert Lea Girls Hockey’s season ends in a 15-1 loss to Warroad in the Class A State Quarterfinals

(ABC 6 News) — The Albert Lea Tigers Girls Hockey team saw its season end at State in a 15-1 loss to Warroad on Wednesday.
Tigers appeared in second-straight State Tournament, Warroad entered as the defending Class A champions.
Warroad, the defending Class A champions, took control right away at the Xcel Energy Center. The Tigers were unable to stop Rylee Bartz of the Warriors, as she’d score five total goals (three in the first period) in addition to reaching her 100th point of the season.
The Warriors lead 4-0 at the end of the first period, ballooning the lead to 9-1 at the end of the second, the Tigers’ Shelby Evans scoring the lone goal on the night for Albert Lea.
The Warriors would pad their lead with four more goals in the third period before the final horn rang, Albert Lea’s record now at 18-8-1 and will now play Fergus Falls or South St. Paul in the Consolation Tournament at noon on Thursday.
