(ABC 6 News) — St. Ansgar high school went 2-for-2 this Fourth of July weekend. After the girls picked up a victory in their opening round softball regional matchup, the boys followed suit as they got a shutout victory against Northwood-Kensett in the opening round of the Class 1A Region 3 tournament.
Northwood-Kensett is winless on the season, but St. Ansgar head coach Devin Schwiesow knew they would be no easy out. The Saints gave the ball to Tate Meyer and he delivered as he struck out several Vikings batters.
The Saints would scrape up 2 runs and that’s all they needed as they got the 2-0 victory. They will host Nashua-Plainfield on Tuesday at 7 pm.
