UPDATE: Fire in northwest Rochester apartment building started in outdoor garbage cans
(ABC 6 News) – Multiple engines responded to a structure fire in northwest Rochester around 7:00 Tuesday night.
The fire sent crews to the Innsbruck Apartments on 50th Street NW, firefighters telling our crew on the scene that when they arrived, they observed a “significant amount of fire” between two buildings.
The fire caused what officials call “moderate to severe smoke and fire damage”, and they are still working to determine what exactly started it.
One person was taken to Mayo Clinic to be evaluated for smoke inhalation.
The damage was only in the apartment building’s office, so no one will be displaced, but as of right now, there is no estimate on the amount or the cost of damages.
On Monday morning, the Rochester Fire Department sent out a press release stating that the fire started in garbage cans near the apartment office. When RFD got to the scene, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the office building, as well as materials behind the structure.
