Olmsted County GOP gathers to watch election results

(ABC 6 News) — Olmsted County Republicans held an election watch party at Willow Creek Golf Course and Event Center on Tuesday night.

Local republicans looked to make big moves in the 2024 election both the State and Federal levels.

Five seats were up for grabs in Olmsted County, and local republicans were looking to flip them and end the majority.

One of those seats belonged to Rep. Duane Quam, who quickly pulled ahead in the race for District 25A.

“I’m hoping to get more of these local fix bills that take care of issues that we have down in our area before committee that get passed and become law,” Quam said.

Rep. Brad Finstad also sought re-election for congressional district one, also taking an early lead of in the race over DFL challenger.

Finstad, the projected winner, said he was honored to see the support from southern Minnesota.

“I hope it’s gonna be just a continuation of my commitment to serve our neighbors in southern Minnesota my commitment to continue to represent our values to you know work on the issues that I hear,” Finstad said.

Dan Sepeda, Ken Navitsky and Wes Lund all looked from their DFL incumbents, but those seats are not projected to flip, according to the precincts that have been counted.
