Rochester Police Department helps out at Salvation Army
(ABC 6 News)- On Friday, the Rochester Police Department partnered with the Salvation Army in hosting a grill out for the non-profit’s clients.
The Salvation Army says it serves lunch Monday through Friday but wanted to enjoy lunch outside on the summer day while also providing tune-ups on clients’ bike as most of them use bikes as their mode of transportation.
“On one side we do a lot of enforcement but on the other side in dealing with the homeless population we see the problems that happen day to day with them and the lack of resources that they have access too and so we try to come up with solutions to help them,” said Officer James Ratelle, Rochester Police Department.
This is the first time the two entities have collaborated on an event like this.
