Smoke now at the surface
Smoke continues to roll through the area at the surface through Friday. Visibility will drop to 1-4 miles at times this evening and overnight . You may be able to smell the smoke and of course the air quality will suffer.
It is anticipated to improve a bit on Friday with a secondary cold front moving through. That should help kick the smoke out of the surface. However, it may remain elevated. Better conditions move in for Saturday throughout the entire atmosphere.
Until then, everyone will feel the effects. The unhealthy air is hazardous for everyone and not just those suffering from respiratory illness.
Common impacts will be itchy eyes, nose throat and shortness of breath. If you’re feeling symptoms you should limit your physical activity outside and take some breaks inside.
